SUBJECT ASSOSCIATION ACTIVITY
INTRODUCTION
Subject assosciation help the students to know about the importance of the subject. These activities provides co- operation among the students. All the students participate in these activities. It helps to develop the creativity of the students . The students get an organisational capacity . These activities give new knowledge about the subject & give information about various things .
Subject Assosciation Activity contains a collection of activities from a global library that would be performed on a common subject . Students learn through their participation in the attainment of knowledge by gathering information & processing it by solving problems & particularly what they have discussed.
As part of Subject Assosciation Activity we celebrated National science day & Republic day , set up a library , an aquarium.
1. NATIONAL SCIENCE DAY CELEBRATION
February 28th is celebrated as National science day . The motto of Science day 2016 is " TO RAISE PUBLIC APPRECIATION ON SCIENTIFIC ISSUES FOR THE DEVELOPMENT OF NATION " . National science day is celebrated on 28th february every year in order to commemorate invention of Raman Effect in India by the Indian Physicict , Sir Chandrasekhara Venkata Raman on the same day in the year 1928 . For his great success in the year 1928. For his great success in the field of science in India , Sir Chandrasekhara Venkata Raman was awarded & honored with the nobel prize in physics in the year 1930 .
As part of science club " HARITHAM " we conducted three competitions : Essay writing , poster making , seminar & quiz competition . All students from various departments participated in these competitions . Two students from each department participated in quiz competition . For selection of finalist , a trial was conducted . The final round of quiz competition was conducted on 09/03/2016 . The final teams were Natural science , Physical science , Maths & Sanskrit . The team that won was Maths , second place - natural science , third place - physical science & fourth place - sanskrit. The prizes were distributed by the principal .
2. REPUBLIC DAY CELEBRATIONS
On 26th January 2016 , at 8:00 am we assembled in our campus to celebrate Republic day . Our principal hosted the national flag & we sang the patriotic song Vande Mataram . Our college union chairman distributed sweets. We went to auditorium & started our programmes . Principal , Dr. Vijayakumari Amma gave an introduction speech about republic day. All teachers conveyed a message to the students . As part of science club " Haritham " we conducted three competitions - Elocution , patriotic song & essay writing . These competitions were house wise . At last winners each competition were announced & principal distributed prizes . Vote of thanks was given by college union general secretary .
3.SCIENCE LIBRARY
We set up a science library in our natural science lab for the purpose of effective science learning . We bought different science related textbooks for arranging this library . These books helps in many of our classworks . For seminar presentation , practical works , practicum etc. we can prefer the books brought . This science library develops scientific attitude among students , develop different skills , motivation for innovation , increase reading skill etc. .
4. AQUARIUM
An aquarium is a vivarium of any size having atleast one transparent side in which water dwelling plants or animals are kept & displayed .
HOW TO SET UP AN AQUARIUM:
- Use a plate when adding water to prevent gravel displacement .
- Rinse the gravel in clean water & add it to the aquarium , sloping it up towards the back .
- Place clean plate on top of gravel & start to fill the aquarium with water .
- If tap water contains chlorine , add chlorine neutralizer .
Using these steps we set up an aquarium in our class .
CONCLUSION
To make each student active player in the learning process , an environment must be created in which there are oppurtunities for students join in doing task . In & out of the class excersises that include problems for solving or questions for answering are important for prompting students to use language conjuctively & develop thinking skills .
